3-Year Nursing Program
The training to become a health and nursing professional in Germany lasts three years and includes both theoretical instruction at vocational schools and practical experience in hospitals and elderly care facilities.
Training Content
Theoretical Lessons
The theoretical instruction covers the basics of nursing, anatomy, physiology, pathology, nursing methods and legal principles.
Practical Applications
The practical placements take place in various settings, such as hospitals, nursing homes, outpatient clinics, and other facilities. Here, the trainees learn how to interact with patients, perform nursing procedures, and apply nursing methods.
Training Process
Specialization Phase
In the third year of training, trainees have the opportunity to specialize in a specific area of nursing, such as geriatric nursing or pediatric nursing etc.
Final Exam
The training concludes with a state examination that covers both theoretical and practical knowledge.
Language Skills
For foreigners, a good knowledge of German is required (at least B2 level).
Training Allowance
in the first year of training it is usually between 1,191 and 1,341 euros gross per month.
The remuneration increases in the following years of training.
Ausbildung/Altenpfleger
The one-year training to become a geriatric nursing assistant offers a good opportunity to work in nursing. The training includes theoretical instruction and practical exercises in care Facilities after successful completion, it is possible to work as a nursing assistant in hospitals, retirement and nursing homes.
Training Details
Duration
The training usually lasts one year, but can be longer in some federal states.
